Echo Mountain House
Angeles National Forest, California
Once part of a popular tourist and honeymoon destination known as "The White City in the Sky," the Echo Mountain House was a large Victorian hotel overlooking Pasadena, California. A kitchen fire in 1900 destroyed the hotel, and the entire complex was abandoned in 1938 after a series of fires and floods wiped out what was left. Today the ruins are on the National Register of Historic Places and can be accessed by a moderately-difficult hike from Altadena.
